These beautiful aircraft fly for half an hour powered by a single elastic band. Lovely film making I love these documentaries about activities that I never imagined existed, let alone had such a passionate following.
I know it was on boing boing and the whole world has seen it, but it's too good not to post.
My friend Liz continues to impress with her photography, this time she shot the cover for the Portland MErcury. Way to go Liz!
Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket - 179.00
I have put off getting a down jacket for years. I liked the warmth but they always seemed bulky and expensive. This christmas my parents bought me a patagonia nano puff jacket for christmas and I am now left wondering why I waited so long to get one of these. I choose a synthetic fill over a down jacket largely because it is so wet here in the Pacific NW, the synthetic fill should stay warm even after a soaking in the rain. The jacket is far warmer than its 354g (12.5oz) has any right to be. The frst time I wore it on my walk to work I was pleasantly surprised at the microclimate that seemed to have set up shop around my body. I have yet to really put this to the test but it seems pretty comfortable with just a t-shirt underneath down to near freezng temperatures.

A great short film on remixing/reuse in movies. The video tells it a lot better than I do so go watch.
If you are in the software business or thinking of getting involced in a startup I suggest that you sit down and read this article. There are several excellent answers to the question "Why is dropbox so successful?" including one from the co-founder of a competitor. There are so many great points made, but this one resonated particularly strongly.
If you're starting a new company, the best thing you can do is keep your feature set small and focused. Do one thing as best as you possibly can. Your users will beg and beg for more functionality. They will tell you their problems and ask you to fix it. My philosophy is that they're right if their feature request is right only if it works for 80% of your customers. Until you have a lot of resources, stay focused on your core competency.

Very interesting article in Scientific American on the health risks associated with sitting all day.
