A Universe From Nothing
James Kellerman
This is an excellent and humorous talk from Lawrence Krauss on how not only the universe came from nothing but how it has to have come from nothing. Well worth an hour of a Sunday afternoon.

- ctrl-r in bash terminal gives you an awesome ability to search back through your command history.
- File permissions in windows server 2003 need to be just right for PHP files to work nicely.
- blackra1n makes it almost too simple to jailbreak and unlock your phone.
- Most Jailbreak apps are crap and the various stores have terrible UIs.

It is truly one of the mysteries of the universe.
Google Wave
James Kellerman
Well I have landed a precious google wave invite and am in the process of exploring the application. So far it really isn't that exciting, largely because I only know 2 other people on wave and they are in a different time zone. So its basically tying into boxes. Despite the early out of control excitement I can't see this having the same growth as gmail because unlike gmail it is only useful if your friends also use it.
Moving to Posterous
James Kellerman
After years of self hosting this blog, I have decided to move it over to Posterous. Part of the reason is the expense, but also the hassle of constantly upgrading wordpress and securing the site. By moving to Posterous I save about a $100 a year in hosting fees and can focus on the important stuff like actually posting content.
The Stupid it Burns
James Kellerman
The US is in the middle of the biggest deabte on the future of healthcare for decades. The issue is complex and as ever the devil is surely in the details. Not that you would know it from the increasingly insane opposition. I understand that there are a number of people who simply don't understand the issues and just want to shout at something, but there are plenty of people who should know better. This is possibly the best (worst) example I have seen so far. The editorial in the Investors Business Daily waffles on about how the Obama health care plan will mean compulsory euthanasia for everyone over 60 who catches a cold. They reinforce this totally fallacious argument with an amazing statement.
People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.Mmm, where to start. How about the fact that Stephen Hawking is British, and has lived in the UK his entire life. The NHS euthanasia squad must have missed him. With balanced reporting and fact checking like this no wonder the debate on health care in the US has become a farce. Via TPM
Robo Dinner
James Kellerman
Love these Ramen making robots from where else, Japan. Watch through to the end to see what they get up to when they are not making noodles.
